This artwork was inspired and developed following a multitude of documentation - recordings, film and photography - taken on field trips in early spring, between Imbolc and the Vernal Equinox, while on river walks in Hayle, Cornwall and the River Roach in Essex. On the bank sides, upon the ancient skeletal branches of wintered, weathered bones that have bore witness to the passage of time, hope begins to unfurl in delicate buds and lichen weaves its tapestry on the barren boughs. Nature is in resurgence between decay and rebirth. Fungus living in a symbiotic relationship with algae or cyanobacteria provides structure and protection while the algae or cyanobacteria perform photosynthesis, producing food for both organisms. <\/span>Off shore ancient rivers team with new life as the spring tides swell with the thaw of frost and showers. A hug from the ancestors is sent. There is a feeling of newness and promise in the air.<\/p>
