I LIVE beside the seaside, and have seen up close and personal the disgusting mess and piles of plastic which get left on our beaches every time the sun comes out and it's horrifying. Of course it's a global problem, a big one, which isn't only caused by littering, and is causing untold harm to our oceans. Yet despite the scale of this problem, global plastic production continues. We need to do more about it. So I'm very excited to be taking part in this campaign - One Tee for 1 KG.<\/p>

For very t-shirt order made at K-A-B.NET this weekend, a kilogram of plastic rubbish (that's the equivalent of 50 plastic bottles) will be prevented from entering the ocean and will be recycled into what has been called Social Plastic<\/em><\/strong>\u00ae.<\/p>

<\/p>

Social Plastic is a project created by Plastic Bank, a social enterprise which ethically recovers the material and transfers its value to communities in need.\u00a0<\/p>

<\/p>

One Tee for 1 KG is thanks to our production partner Teemill, who has hooked up with Plastic Bank, who pays collectors to remove waste from coastal communities in Haiti, the Philippines, Indonesia and Brazil.<\/p>

<\/p>

Their collectors gather plastic waste from streets, households, and informal dump sites, properly disposing of it before it ends up in the ocean. The plastic is recycled and reborn as Social Plastic to be remade into new products as part of a closed-loop supply chain.<\/p>

Plastic Bank have removed over 55.3 million kilograms of ocean-bound plastic. They have recovered enough plastic to circle the Earth with straws thousands of times!<\/p>

From discarded ghost nets to minuscule microplastics released during washing, our planet is facing a plastic crisis. 8 million plastic pieces find their way to our seas every single day.
